Republican David Schweikert was first elected to Congress in 2010 after two unsuccessful congressional runs in 1994 and 2008. In December 2018, the House Ethics Committee expanded an investigation into allegations that Schweikert may have used official resources to benefit his campaign and omitted required information from his annual House financial disclosure statements and Federal Election Commission candidate committee reports. Schweikert won 55.2% of the vote in November 2018, down 6.9% from his previous win in 2016 with 62.1% of the vote. Schweikert consistently votes in line with Republican leadership, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) listed Arizona’s 6th District as one of the 33 top targeted districts for 2020
